Does a dropped connection lose progress?

No. The client records the last acknowledged byte offset and resumes from it.

Why does the queue keep a connection open?

The session endpoint is long-polled so progress updates arrive without repeated handshakes.

Is there a size limit?

Individual files are unlimited; the queue quota depends on your plan.
